I feel many people struggle or at least do not use the light to their full potential, due to the relationship that they develop with it from the beginning.
The image we have of an initiate sitting in a lotus position gives us the idea that we must concentrate and focus intently and when light does come along, the mind uses that concentration to try and get closer to it.
This ‘wall’ of concentration is a block in itself and creates a space to always separate ourselves from the light, so when the light hits this construct, it is lost in the blackness of the mind and wiped out pretty quickly.
So it’s really beneficial to just tell yourself that the light contains within it all the spiritual evolutionary information that you need and ask it to teach you when you meditate. Then we can sit back and just let it ‘teach us’ by not looking for it with concentration but allow it to just be there.
So, for example when the light is there for me, when it moves, twists, turns… my awareness moves twists and turns with the light… it’s like a cosmic dance and I just dance with the light without any resistance from me wanting to hold on to it in any way. That is because I have decided that it is there to teach me, not for me to try and possess it.
It’s like the light that comes in your room once the curtains open.. we remove the curtain (our mind, will, concentration) and the light shines through. Does the window judge the light? No, the window receives the light and lets it pass through. So I can remove the curtain now at will and just sit in meditation with the light flowing through me (psychic window, third eye).
I can now meditate, bragon free, pretty much continuously for as long as I want with the light which is only a recent development.
The sound ‘creates the space’ for the light so the sound is very important as well.
I hope this helps in some way.
