When we first learn to meditate it may be on a candle, a mantra or on our breath. The object of the exercise is to establish a prolonged period of concentration on one point of focus. This could be a physical object, a set of syllables or the subtlety of our own breathing.
However, after we have been Initiated and discover the Spiritual Realms of Light and Sound we become aware of an expanded sense of Ourselves. We can now focus on something way beyond the physical.
There now exists choice, do we Meditate on the Light, the Sound or the Stillness. The Stillness is really another way of speaking about our Self, not the small individual self but the Self that has been discovered in the Higher Dimensions. This Self will seem much larger than the little self and the the more we Meditate the bigger it will become.
The Self could be compared to a bubble. This is a Bubble of Consciousness and we are the Space that is contained within a set of Bounds. These Bounds mark the illusion of individuality and our limitations. One day, on attaining Enlightenment, the limits are blown and the Bubble bursts!
If we choose to sit in the Stillness we can also be aware of activity within the Light and Sound but not get caught up in it. Obviously if things get exciting we may be drawn into the activity and feel that we are travelling, sometimes at immense speeds. This is exactly what is required; the movement is invariably coupled with an expansion of the Self.
As the Path is a Journey it is important that we are happy to move. Only lack of concentration and/or fear will prevent it. We need to have courage and a desire to merge with the Energies and relinquish all attempts of control. This is easy to say but can be difficult in practice.
One thing to avoid is sitting quietly without any Light or Sound and just gently musing. This is called, having a rest or daydreaming and should not be confused with Meditation. Remember this is a Path of Light and Sound; if you are not aware of these Energies, you are not Meditating on them.
Please don’t expect to be aware of the Light and Sound continuously in your Meditations. The Light will come and go and will vary tremendously in its intensity. Be happy to catch a glimpse of it from time to time. The Sound is generally much easier to contact and many Mediators report hearing it in their daily lives even when ambient sounds are loud!
Nobody said Meditation is easy; it requires a determination and a devotion to the Truth.
